Being born and raised in good family is a dream of every child in the world, going to good school or university, having good environment, good friend are the next dream of theirs, and also for the parents, they hope their future will be better with their children, that is why they raise their children with all the heart.
but those words are hard for a few children even impossible, some of them sometimes just hopes that they can be reborn but in different parents or place. We often see hot potatoes which is titled “a father rapes his daughter or kills his son “, and we open and read while rubbing our chest, since we think that is impossible, yet willy nilly we have to admit it, now there are many cases of violence against children that can shock us as parents, and we ask ourselves some of the time. Is it true and how?
In Indonesia, about 28.789 cases noted by Kementerian Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Anak ( KPPPA ), with the majority of victims being women. Cases of child violence that occur in the household also show an increasing trend, with a percentage of 48% (2021), 53% (2022), 52% (2023), and 53% (2024). 48% is not small number, and about 17 thousand more victims of sexual harassment, and caught up physical violence.
Without we realize, we can be one of scary parents for our children, the second paragraph is just a proof which we can see with the naked eye, but we forget there is a massive problem that we often are not aware, what is that? That is mental health which is caused by bad words or bullying that we say to our children. Oh! You cannot do it, you can defeat, or something else bad, as Indian said “we are taught to walk and speak, but they say sit and shut up”, and when our children grow to be mature or young they still remember what we did to them, then it is not seldom it can be a revenge. Believe or not, there are so many cases as well about son or daughter kills their own parents, we without observe the root of problem judging them directly, when actually they are victims of their parents in the past.
Children who have good life will say their parents are more than angel, but for children who have bad life will say another name of evil is my parents. Broken home, mental disorder, depression, and others are big deal that we face now, they can hit our children, but it is understandable when parents do something bad since maybe they had too when they were still children.
Can we stop it and turn to be good parents?
Everything can be change as long as we want, we can stop it then, and more rewarding for us if we can change our neighbor too to be good parents, but it is not enough, we have to know how to be good parents, well this one must be read carefully, or you must be all ears. One, open communication always, this is so important to know what our children really want to know and say to us. Two, patience, be mor patient to lead them, if it can, it will be more beautiful when they make a mistake, you say polite word or even make it funny. Three, quality time, there is nobody who is really able to live alone, they, you, I need someone to have good time. Last but not list is gift, giving a gift is one of ways too to make the relationship between children and parents warmer.
